Location of Healing

Surrounded by red-rock canyons and high forested mountains near Utah's National Parks,  Juniper Canyon has access to thousands of square miles of pristine wilderness.  Each week, the women will embark on adventures designed to challenge, heal and inspire.  Clients are guided and supported in safe, fun and meaningful adventures.  Adventures include trips to the slot canyons, repelling, top-rope climbing, mountain biking, and summiting peaks, and other adventures clients will find both challenging and rewarding.

Our treatment center  is located at the edge of a valley surrounded by public land that provides an ideal setting to recuperate and restore oneself between adventures and to plan, prepare and debrief each adventure experience and tie it to individual treatment plan objectives.  Treatment center programming includes utilizing equine therapy and daily routines to promote mindfulness including yoga and meditation. By combining evidence-based therapy with meaningful adventures, Juniper Canyon supports clients on a reflective journey, facilitating lasting internalized change and cultivating positive identity development.  We facilitate healing while increasing awareness of cognitive distortions.  Clients are motivated to pursue balanced holistic health by changing harmful behaviors and negative thought patterns. Clients engage in fostering healthy relationships through adventure experiences which support development of  self-efficacy, self-love and healthy connections. The Juniper Canyon experience leads clients through the process of  breaking the substance abuse cycle, achieving personal agency, and emerging from the debilitations of addiction.

Spending time in nature is a healing experience. There’s nothing quite like being deep in a forest, on the shore of a lake,  gazing across a red-rock canyon, while being immersed in wild nature completely separated from the busy outside world to engage in deep therapeutic work.

There are now many studies available revealing the psychological benefits of nature, wilderness and adventure experiences and all of the research points to the conclusion that the closer we are to nature, the more we heal, rejuvenate, and reconnect to inspiration and our own potential.
